Neil Meredith is a New York based architect working in the areas of fabrication, construction and technology.



He currently works at Assembly OSM a modular building startup that has grown out of SHoP Architects. At AOSM Neil leads the technology group focusing software development, and model-based manufacturing and assembly of high-rise buildings.

Before joining Assembly Neil worked in the sub-contractor/fabricator space at both MG McGrath and Island Exterior Fabricators with a focus on unitized building enclosures. Key projects include the US Olympic & Paralympic Museum (USOPM), St. Nicholas Cathedral, BAM/PFA museum and Vikings Stadium.

Prior to McGrath Neil also worked at Gehry Technologies and Front, specializing in technology, complex geometry and parametric design. Projects include the Broad Museum, Brooklyn Arena, Burj Khalifa ceiling, Edmonton airport, and the Yas Island Hotel.

Neil holds a B.S. and M.Arch in Architecture from the University of Michigan, and is a licensed architect (MI #1301066407). He has taught at Columbia University, the University of Michigan, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). In the Spring 2010 term Neil was part of the C-BIP studio teaching team at Columbia University GSAPP. He is also a former lecturer at the University of Michigan where he operated the schools Digital Fabrication Lab and taught in the areas of design, construction and fabrication.

Independent design work is grouped under the umbrella of Sheet Design LLC. Following a three-month residency at the European Ceramic Workcentre (.ekwc), research into ceramic building materials was published in Loose Fit: Experimental Ceramic Building Materials, as well as Transmaterial 3. The resulting ceramic building products are also part of the materials database at Material ConneXion. The project won in the furniture category for the 2009 ID Magazine Annual Design Review. Random projects include fabrication detailing for a commercial art gallery, a residential renovation and custom furniture.

Originally from outside Detroit, Michigan, he currently lives in Ridgewood, Queens.
